The organisers, Wessex Surf Club, Bournemouth Surfing Centre, Bournemouth Surf School, Sorted Surf Shop, A1Surf and Bournemouth Council have taken the decision to delay the contest until the new year due to a lack of contestable surf.

Contest Director, Paul Clarke of Bournemouth Surfing Centre said:

This is a showcase event for South Coast Surfing and we want to make sure the competitors are pushed to their limits and spectators are entertained. Neither of these looked to be on the cards this weekend.

With venues booked and competitors travelling from all over the country the decision was not an easy one to make.

Boscombe Pier, Bournemouth 22nd-23rd November

Between 100-200 competitors from across the region are expected to take part in The South Coast Surfing Championships on 22nd and 23rd November.

This exciting event brings together the main surfing communities on the south coast in a weekend of friendly competition run to BSA rules. There will be 8 categories with heats run over both days, with finals and prize-giving to take place on Sunday afternoon. Is an open event and covers all categories of surfing – Longboards, Shortboards and Bodyboards, along with all ages of rider from Juniors to Veterans and Ladies and Men, so a wide range of styles and talents will be on display.
