Surf Reef Webcam Goes Live
October 19th, 2009
A new webcam is up and running on the Urban reef building. It looks straight at the reef and should hopefully give a good idea what the reef is doing. You can access it from the Urban Reef Homepage or click here to go straight to it.
So far, the conditions have been less than ideal for surfing but there are signs the surf reef will live up to expectations. It’s effectiveness can really only be tested with the arrival of a solid south westerly ground swell. This is also when we can expect the reef to be publicly launched.

At last waves and we can get some return from the cost.

What a joke. The remit was: more waves, bigger waves, better waves. Well, since the reef has been ‘officially’ completed there has been all manner of surf conditions. And on the whole stretch of the south coast the place with the worst waves has been this so called ‘reef’. Not only that but the construction methods have ruined other waves in the area. So infact the reverse of what was expected has happened. Now there are NO waves in the Boscombe area, what effect will that have on local business? I hope ASR are held accountable.

I was coming down this weekend from the witterings which is my normal surfing spot as I’ve seen all the hype on TV. Looks pretty dire, the least we should expect is a cam that’ll show the conditions. They haven’t even done that right.
